BOSTON, August 16, 2013 – Global athletic leader New Balance is proud to announce today that Team New Balance American athlete Jenny Simpson has won the silver medal in the women’s 1500m race at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia.

By finishing second with a time of 4:02.99, the 2009 graduate of the University of Colorado became the most decorated American woman in the 1500m event at the World Championships.  Simpson won the gold medal in the 1500m at the World Track & Field Championships in Daegu, South Korea in September 2011.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to bring another medal home to all of the people that have supported me throughout my career, said Simpson. “The field today was as strong as any I've been a part of and I'm proud to have risen to the top. It will take time for the true significance of this effort to really hit me."

“Jenny led the field throughout the race and finished strong to clinch the silver medal,” says John Evans, Sports Marketing Manager. “We are so excited and proud to be part of Jenny’s historic achievement at the 2013 World Championships.”

New Balance signed the Olympian and American record holder to a multi-year endorsement contract upon her graduation from the University of Colorado in December 2009.  Simpson owns the American record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 9:12.50.  Jenny has also earned spots on two U.S. Olympic Team, two world teams and is a seven-time All-American and 12-time All-Big 12 honoree. Jenny won four NCAA titles and two national steeplechase titles.

In the 1500m event, Jenny debuted the New Balance MD800v3 spikes.  The 800v3 will launch at retail in November 2013 with the suggested retail price of $120. Jenny lives and trains in Boulder, CO under Coaches Mark Wetmore and Heather Burroughs.
