NEWS RELEASE

Washington, DC – August 31, 2017 — In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, New Balance Foundation and New Balance Athletics are increasing their annual contribution to the American Red Cross to $1 million through the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP). The donation will help people affected by Hurricane Harvey as well as support disaster relief efforts throughout the year.

“New Balance is fortunate that all of our Texas retail associates have reported in safely and that we are in a position to help those affected by catastrophic events like Hurricane Harvey through the important work of the American Red Cross,” says Anne Davis, managing trustee, New Balance Foundation.

The company is also developing a product donation plan for those affected by Hurricane Harvey and will match all employee donations to benefit American Red Cross Disaster Relief as part of the New Balance Corporate Match Program.

“The Red Cross works around the clock in extremely challenging conditions to respond to disasters like Hurricane Harvey,” said Gail McGovern, president and CEO at the American Red Cross. “We couldn’t do it without the generosity of our amazing donors – like New Balance Foundation. With their support the Red Cross can enable communities to prepare for the unexpected, and when disaster strikes to respond with shelter, food and the necessary supplies to ensure people are cared for, and to help during the recovery process. We are extremely grateful for their support.”

Each year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters down the street and across the country including home fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes and wildfires. Donations from ADGP members like New Balance Foundation enable the Red Cross to prepare communities for disasters big and small, respond whenever and wherever disasters occur and help families during the recovery process.  Through their $250K annual donation, New Balance Foundation has been an ADGP member since 2011.
