Boston, MA – February 22nd, 2021 – Today, global athletic leader New Balance, together with Team NB Ambassador and New York Mets superstar shortstop, Francicso Lindor, officially unveiled the brand’s first-ever baseball signature shoe and apparel collection. The collection includes footwear, apparel and a headband, all featuring design motifs that are central to Lindor’s journey from growing up in Puerto Rico to becoming one of the most dynamic players in baseball.

‘The Lindor 1’ footwear offering includes a classic baseball cleat in two colors as well as a lifestyle silhouette available in three colorways. All of the footwear features a striking floral pattern that runs across the front vamp that is inspired by the Flor de Maga, the official national flower of Lindor’s native Puerto Rico. Two of Lindor’s personal mantra’s can be found on the apparel and the tongue of the footwear, ‘Be Consistent’ on the left and ‘Stay Positive’ on the right tongue, giving another personal touch to the athletes first signature collection. As the superstar shortstop continues to push the boundaries of baseball and fashion, both phrases serve as a call to action to all who seek to reach their full potential. To finish off the design, ‘The Lindor 1’ footwear features several past New Balance logos mixed with his logo, which give them a unique old meets new look and feel.

In addition, ‘The Lindor 1’ also features two signature straps, one on the midfoot that helps lock the foot in and then a state-of-the-art detachable strap that provides additional angle support. The detachable ankle strap is a first of its kind for New Balance cleated product but one that Lindor personally requested to allow all of the footwear in the collection to be worn as a low or mid top, giving consumers versatile support on the field and style off of it.

“Few baseball stars have successfully been able to crossover to the lifestyle and fashion world,” says Pat Cassidy Global Director, Consumer Brand Marketing & Athlete Activation at New Balance. “Lindor is a trendsetter on and off the diamond and our work together since 2016 has shown that. This collection honors our history together and allows us to authentically tell his story through innovative design, and inspire the next generation of stars to pursue their dreams.”

“I hope everybody will feel inspired to boldly express themselves when they see the ‘Lindor 1’ and this collection,” says Lindor.

From the footwear to the headband, ‘The Lindor 1’ and apparel collection comes in black and white but also a colorful tie-dye inspired design that reminds the star athlete of his Puerto Rican roots: ocean blue, bright green trees, a golden yellow found in the sand and sun, etc. This unique print is especially present on the trail inspired outsole of the ‘The Lindor 1’ footwear, the headband and across the apparel.

The full collection will be available on www.newbalance.com starting March 1st with the suggested retail price ranging from $15 for the headband to $130 for the baseball cleat.
