New Balance Reveals F.C. Tokyo Home and Away Jerseys

New Balance has unveiled F.C. Tokyo’s 2022 home and away kits.

 

The bespoke designs are part of the brand’s ‘Tokyo Is Now’ campaign. The campaign reflects on the city’s influence on global culture, as a place of innovation and progressive thinking and encourages young football fans to unite and spread the word.

 

FC Tokyo’s latest home jersey is a classic interpretation of the Club’s signature blue and red stripes and is completed with gold neck details, inspired by traditional Japanese print: “Ukiyo-e”.

 

Reminiscent of the lights at Ajinomoto Stadium, the white away shirt uses linear pin stripes flowing from red to blue, alongside a navy neck and sleeve trim.

 

The campaign launch creative for both kits have been uniquely influenced by international photographer, Justin Bettman. New Balance has worked in collaboration with Justin on the creative inspiration behind the concept which showcases the connection between the new season’s designs, the club, and its relationship with the city.

 

Equipped with innovative NB Dry technology, the shirt is engineered to help keep players fresh and dry. A jacquard ventilation system is added to promote optimum comfort.

“The bold stripes of F.C. Tokyo are a fantastic canvas for New Balance design. We really wanted to preserve that tradition but with a fresh and modern twist, inspired by traditional Japanese print. It’s a great combination that we’re looking forward to seeing on the pitch this season”

 

F.C. Tokyo player Shuto Abe said:

 

“The new jerseys are great. I really like that the FC Tokyo blue and red stripes have a special reference to Japanese tradition. I’m sure this will get a great reaction from the fans and supporters too”

 

The release is part of the brand’s ‘Tokyo Is Now’ campaign, which aims to celebrate Tokyo’s thriving youth culture.

New range to celebrate Year of the Tiger  

 

New Balance has released a limited-edition Lunar New Year collection for AS Roma

The eight-piece bespoke line has been designed in celebration of the Year of the Tiger and features a graphic t-shirt, hoodie, 237 trainer and football.

 

Off-pitch items including a cap, bobble hat and scarf have also been added, each embellished with a golden tiger print in recognition of the holiday.


The release is part of New Balance’s ‘Only Roma’ campaign for the 2021/22 season in recognition of Roma as a way of life.

The full collection goes on sale 20 December 2021, and will be available to buy at www.newbalance.com/football (Europe) and www.asroma.com (worldwide)

Special edition Furon celebrates Sterling’s heritage


16th DECEMBER 21 Raheem Sterling and New Balance have collaborated on a limited-edition football boot that celebrates the England international’s Jamaican roots. 

Designed in tribute to Raheem’s love for the island and how it has inspired him throughout his incredible football journey, the Furon v6+ Jamaica edition is a festival of pride.

Additionally, the boot was created to represent the strong connection the England talisman has with his mother and how important her choices and influence were in shaping the world-renowned person and player he is today.

Featured across the boot, is the famous national motto ‘Out of Many, One People’, which is complemented by a vibrant green and gold colour palette. The Numbers ‘1692’ and ‘1994’ have also been added, in recognition of the founding of Jamaica’s modern capital, Kingston and Raheem’s year of birth.

The nation’s flag print is displayed on the custom tongue, alongside a specially designed shipping label, applied in recognition of the many hat trick balls the 3x’s title winner sent to his mother’s home in Jamaica after scoring in matches. 

A special mention on the laces has also been reserved for Kingston and Maverley, where Raheem was born.

Raheem Sterling said “Jamaica is a small island that’s had a massive influence on the world, whether it’s music, football, food or dance Jamaica always represents. I was a young kid when I left, but it’s a big part of my story. For me, it’s a real honour to be able to express that when I’m on the pitch”.

Sterling, who has worked closely with New Balance to create the boots, will wear them in upcoming fixtures.
