- Track & Field - 1500m
Jake’s coach & father (Geoff Wightman) is the stadium announcer at all major championships as well as other major track & field events. This often sees Geoff announcing and commentating on Jakes events while he is competing. Jake has to go into these events without his coach and knowing throughout his race he is going to hear his dad providing commentary. It takes a strong person to mentally be able to deal with that kind of unique situation.
Jakes mother and father were both international marathon runners. Susan Tooby (Jakes mother)– competed for Great Britain in the marathon, and his dad – Geoff – competed at Commonwealth Games and European Championships for Great Britain.
