Massachusetts General Hospital Receives Transformational Gift of $100 Million from New Balance Foundation to Advance Community, Cardiovascular Care
BOSTON, MA — Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), a founding member of the Mass General Brigham healthcare system, today announced a transformational gift of $100 million from New Balance Foundation, a leader in philanthropic investment in community health and wellness. This visionary gift will support the construction of the West Tower of the Phillip and Susan Ragon Building, which will anchor Mass General Brigham’s world-class heart and vascular care. In recognition and deep appreciation of this extraordinary support, MGH will name the new facility the New Balance Foundation Tower.
“We are deeply grateful to have found in New Balance Foundation, a like-minded partner committed to improving the lives of those in the communities it serves,” said David F. M. Brown MD, president of Academic Medical Centers at Mass General Brigham. “It is only fitting that our two organizations both emerged from humble beginnings in the city of Boston and whose community footprint and commitment to service now extends to those throughout New England, across the country, and around the world.”
Slated to open in 2030, the nearly one million square-foot facility will redefine the patient experience and elevate standards of care through innovation, integration, and resilience. Additionally, it will serve as the training ground for hundreds of fellows, students, interns, and other staff every year, empowering and inspiring tomorrow's medical leaders.
“New Balance Foundation is proud to support Mass General Brigham in their pursuit of advancing care for patients in Boston and beyond,” said Anne Davis, managing trustee, New Balance Foundation. “This gift reflects our commitment to building healthier communities and supporting institutions that share our values of innovation, access, and excellence. We believe deeply in the power of place—and the New Balance Foundation Tower will be a place of healing, hope, and progress for generations to come.”
