New Balance Introduces the 57/40 - Black Colorway Pair

--A nod to the classic 574 series, but with modern design elements--

BOSTON, January 2nd, 2021 –Global athletic leader, New Balance Athletics, Inc. is excited to introduce the new 57/40 silhouette, a reimaging of the iconic New Balance 574. The first release of the men’s and women’s 57/40 will be available globally in a limited release beginning January 9, 2021 for a suggested retail price of $120.

The New Balance 57/40 is a fresh interpretation of the iconic 574 model and a nod to the 5xx franchise. A classic for more than three decades, the New Balance 574 has been one of the industry’s most revered sneakers and today is one of the brands most iconic silhouettes. With the release of the 57/40, New Balance offers the most expressive silhouette within the 574 family.

The 57/40 upper is reinterpreted with an 80’s meets 90’s aesthetic. The classic 574 lines were moved around for a fashion-forward silhouette that is modern but remains rooted in classic New Balance DNA. The traditional N logo is enlarged, making it a design feature similar to new releases such as the 327. The iconic CR device remains familiar but reimagined in a contemporary, exaggerated way that is ideal for color blocking. The sole unit offers a contemporary expression with two midsoles stacked – one inspired by 90’s heritage with a wider, wavy design, and the other a traditional 574 midsole. The enlarged off-road outsole is a throwback to the trail heritage of the 574.

The New Balance 57/40 also includes ‘The Intelligent Choice’ tongue label. The launch collection upper offers a mix of leather, suede and mesh with rainbow colored details on a neutral background. Additional styles will be released throughout 2021 in a mix of materials and colorways.
